Louisiana, Let The Good Times Roll
Welcome to Louisiana
I live in northeastern Louisiana.  I love my home state and all that she has to offer.
I invite you to browse our site and learn a little about this great state.  You can learn
historical facts, what some of the festivals are and other facts and trivia.  There are a
lot of interesting things about our home state and I want to share it with you.  It would
be even better if you came and enjoyed it in person, and you can enjoy some good
country music too.

Visitors to Louisiana may feel like they are visiting another country, even if they live in
the United States. This combination of French, Spanish, African and American cultures
have combined to create a region unlike anywhere in the world. The history found in
Louisiana, both culturally and nationally, is as diverse as the residents of this amazing
state. From the plantations of the early south to the discovery of Jazz, Louisiana has
much to offer visitors.

The one thing that sticks out in everyone's mind when asked about Louisiana is Mardi
Gras. Purple, gold and green can be seen in every city and town throughout Louisiana
during the season of Carnival. Mardi Gras or Carnival is held for 12 crazy days and
nights before the beginning of Lent, which begins on Ash Wednesday. Catholics and
non-Catholics a like flock to the largest Mardi Gras celebration in Louisiana, which is
held in the French Quarter of New Orleans. Everyone visiting Louisiana during Mardi
Gras should have a piece of King Cake. It is said that this traditional Carnival treat will
choose the King and Queen of the celebration.

Other things that are considered to be a part of Louisiana culture include spicy food
and even spicier music. Louisiana has a long tradition of creating original music
genres including Jazz, Blues, Zydeco and Cajun. It is also the birth place to some of
the world's most amazing musicians. The greatest Jazz player of all time was Louis
"Satchmo" Armstrong. The country remembers and honors this brilliant musician at
Armstrong Park, located in New Orleans.

No matter where visitors choose to go in Louisiana, they are bound to find a good
time. Excitement, entertainment and excellent food are around every corner in
Louisiana.

Y'all come now, ya hear....and thanks for dropping in.
